Set Checklists & Card Details

A guide to understanding how sets are structured, from base checklists to complex parallel runs and variant tracking.

Sets are organised so you can find what you collect without knowing any special terms:

  1. Manufacturer — The company that made the cards, such as Upper Deck, Topps, or Panini
  2. Set — One card release, such as "2024 Marvel Masterpieces"
  3. Subset — A smaller group within the set, with the base set listed first
  4. Card — One specific card number
  5. Parallel — An alternate version of that card

Open Set Checklists to browse sets by manufacturer, then use your universe filter to focus on the cards you collect.

Each set has two ways to browse:

Checklist View
The everyday view. Cards are grouped by subset, with alternate versions tucked under the main card.
Parallel Run View
Choose a version, such as Gold Foil, to see every card in that version across the set. It is a simple way to track progress on one kind of parallel.

A parallel is an alternate version of a base card. Binder Realms keeps those versions together so you can compare them easily.

  • Base card — The standard version of a card
  • Parallels — Versions such as Gold, Red Foil, Canvas, Rainbow, or Holofoil

On a card, choose Show Parallels to see its other versions. You may also see a print run, such as /25 or /199, to show how limited that version is.

Cards are labelled by what kind of card they are:

Base
The standard card in the main checklist
Insert
A special card with its own design, separate from the base set
Parallel
An alternate finish or version of a base card
Autograph
A signed card, often made in smaller numbers
Memorabilia
A card containing a physical relic piece, such as a patch
Sketch
A card with original artwork, often one of a kind
Promo
A promotional card outside the main release

These labels make it easier to understand what makes a card special.

Some cards have front and back images to help you identify them. A card may appear without an image when that image has not been added yet.

You may also see where a card was released, such as Hobby, Retail, Mega, Value, or e-Pack. This can help you understand which products might contain that card or version.

The printable Card Capture Sheet helps you photograph several cards neatly and consistently.

How to use it:

  1. Print the sheet at 100% scale on letter paper.
  2. Lay it flat on a dark, non-reflective surface.
  3. Place your cards face-up in the labeled spaces.
  4. Take a photo with all four corners of the sheet visible. Use even lighting to avoid glare and shadows.
  5. Upload the photo through Card Capture, then review the results.
  6. Repeat for card backs if you want to add them too.

If a photo does not work well, check that the whole sheet is visible, the print size is correct, and the lighting is even.
